YMCA Kids Marathon
The YMCA Kids Marathon is a great way to stay active and have fun! Here’s how it works: kids complete 25.2 miles with friends and family now through April 19. They don’t just have to run, they can walk, hop, skip, roller blade or swim their way there–anything that keeps them moving.
Then, on April 20, we’ll all come together ro
run the final mile on Rainbow Race Day. The young marathoners will begin at the Kirk Family YMCA, thread through the streets of downtown Roanoke, and finish behind the Taubman Museum of Art. The young marathoners will cross the same finish line as the elite athletes participating in the Blue Ridge Marathon later that morning. YMCA staff and volunteers will be on hand race day to guide and cheer on the marathoners through the closed streets in downtown Roanoke.
NOW IN COLOR!
This year as racers dash toward the finish line, they will run through clouds of color. The young marathoners will emerge as colorful as the rainbow when the cross the finish line.
Families, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, youth groups and schools are encourage to join as teams.
For more information or tips for building a team — call the YMCA’s Karen Wilbourne at (540) 342-9622 (x3133).
