Here is your chance to support one of our greatest assets, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and get a pretty cool retro license plate in the process.

FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway is sponsoring the Blue Ridge Parkway specialty license plate in Virginia and needs approximately 75 more people to step up and take action.

A little background…there are more than 200 specialty license plates out there, all designed to show support for everything from the college you attended to breast cancer awareness. But before a license plate idea can become a reality there are some hoops that must be jumped through.

To make a plate a reality, it must receive 350 applications (along with $25 payment). After this benchmark is reached, the state of Virginia will begin production (read more about the specialty plate creation process). The FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway license plate needs 75 more applications by the end of November.

FRIENDS will receive a portion of the plate fee, and then donate 100% of these proceeds to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not only do you get a cool plate, you’re also helping to support “America’s Favorite Drive,” the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Applying for the Blue Ridge Parkway plate couldn’t be easier (you do NOT currently have to be up for plate renewal. You can do this at anytime), simply:

Print the Department of Motor Vehicles license plate application form.

Mail the completed form, along with the $25 fee to:

FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway, PO Box 20986, Roanoke VA 24018.

FRIENDS will deposit your money into our specially designated account.

Once the necessary 350 applications have been received, you will be notified by the DMV.
