Music and running just seem to go well together, which is why race weekend happens alongside the Freedom First Down by Downtown Music Festival, a four day festival in downtown Roanoke.

The Down by Downtown Music Festival kicks off Thursday at multiple venues in downtown Roanoke, continuing with a FREE concert Friday evening in the Elmwood Park Amphitheater as runners come together and get ready for the race. Saturday night features the festival headliner just feet from where you’ll finish the race (ticketed show, details at Downbydowntown.com). So after you’ve accomplished one of America’s Toughest Road Races, eat, shower, nap, and then head back to Elmwood Park amphitheater for the celebration – music, food, beer, and more.
