5:30 PM – Shake Out Run
(Must be a registered runner.) Meet Lindsey and Coach Pat at the Elmwood Park mainstage ready for an easy 2 mile shake out run on Roanoke’s downtown greenway system. We will not have a bag check for this, so we recommend leaving your packets/belongings with a friend at the park, or planning your pickup for when you finish the run.
6:30 PM – Pep Talk
Get fired up with Lindsey and Coach Pat as they deliver a mix of race-day wisdom, insider tips, and motivation to fuel you as you take on America’s Toughest Road Race. Don’t miss it! This will wrap up by 7pm, so if you get in line as soon as it’s over, you’ll have time!

Lindsey Hein is a top rated podcast host, race announcer and relatable voice in women’s running.
She is the host and co-host of “I’ll Have Another with Lindsey Hein” Podcast and “Relay” Podcast. She has
run 17 marathons, completed one half ironman and has coached dozens of runners to Boston Qualifiers and PRs over the past 10 years.

Coach Pat
Born and raised in the Roanoke Valley Coach Pat knows the local roads intimately. A Cave Spring High School alumnus then a collegiate swimmer at Grove City College (PA) where he established school records in the 1000- & 1650-yard Freestyles events. His athletic career then continued as a professional triathlete complete with three Ironman World Championships, Kona, Hawaii finishing as high as 12th overall (1987) and First Place 25-29 Age Group (1989). After triathlon Coach Pat‘s focus became coaching and assisting other with achieving their personal goals in swimming, running and triathlon.
He looks forward to assisting you with your goal of completing the Blue Ridge event of your choice. He enjoys working with individuals of all abilities.
