Virtual FAQs
What does it mean to run virtually?
A virtual race is a race that can be completed whenever you’d like during the results window. You can time the race on your own through an app, watch, or another timing device. You then submit your results and receive your official race swag to celebrate what you’ve accomplished!
When will my packet be mailed?
All packets will go out after the race window closes. We hope to have it all packed in the mail within 14 business days, so you can expect your package to arrive in May.
What is included in my packet?
Your packet will include a finisher medal and finisher shirt. A digital bib can be downloaded from your RunSignUp account after you’ve registered, and a finisher’s certificate can be downloaded after you’ve submitted your results.
Can you run the distance in installments?
You must complete the entire distance in one run/walk but there is no required time constraint. So this also opens the opportunity to complete the distance for those who may take longer than the allotted 7.5 hour in-person event. EXCEPTION: Those running the “Full GOAT” are required to adhere to the time cutoffs of 7.5 hours for each lap of the Double, 7.5 hours for the full, 6 hours for the half, and 2.5 hours for the Star-K.
Where do I run?
You must tackle America’s Toughest Road Races from the official course in Roanoke, VA! You’ll need to follow all traffic rules and be responsible for your own safety and aid stations. We recommend going with a friend and having someone meet you on the course with food and water (and to cheer you on!)
How should I record my run?
You are able to submit your results via RaceJoy, upload a GPS data link, or enter results manually. If you are completing your run or walk outdoors, many types of apps and watches/devices will record your distance and time. If you are using a treadmill, a photo of the display will be accepted. You can enter a link to a public page from an app, take a screenshot from your phone, or take a photo of your watch or your treadmill. Please be sure to record distance, time, and elevation gain.
