For the third year in a row the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon will be providing pacers to all half marathon and full marathon runners at no charge. We have hired the company Beast Pacing whose pacers have TONS of experience providing top quality pacing to races all over the country.  They are aware that our race is not your average pacing event, and have made custom pace times and done training on our course to prepare, and we’ve had nothing but glowing reviews from all the people who join a pace groups.

Pace Times Available:

Marathon: 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:45, 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00
Half Marathon: 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30

BEAST PACING FAQ’S:

1. How much does it cost to run with a pacer?  
   It is absolutely FREE to run with a pacer.
2. What is the pacers job?  
   The pacers are each assigned to a goal time. They will keep an even effort slowing on ascents
   and moving faster on the descents, keeping their group as comfortable as possible and
   finishing within a minute of their goal time.
3. How do I find my pacer?  
   The pacers will be lined up in goal time order in the corrals at least 15 minutes prior to
   the start.
4. How do I identify the pacers?  
   The pacers will be wearing safety yellow shirts and will have orange signs.
5. Where should I run near the pacer?  
   You can run beside or behind the pacer if you’d prefer – there are no hard and fast “rules”. Just remember to give the pacer some space to be able to move around. Be reminded that the pacers are just a moving target for you, try to keep them in sight.
6. What if I need to use the restroom?  
   The best strategy you can use is to move ahead of the pace group when you see a restroom ahead. Get your business done and take your time catching back up to your group. It may take you a mile or two to catch back up, but this will leave you with more energy than sprinting to the group.
